This blog is a discussion forum and information tool for families hosting students from Kanazawa Technical College, Japan for eleven months on the Certificate in English and Engineering (C.E.E.) programme at Otago Polytechnic, Dunedin. Although, this is primarily a homestay blog, it is also a way for the homestay families to see what the students are doing in class each day. Hopefully, this will provide a platform for conversations within the homestay.

Cool experience here, Nicki. I'll ask Soma about it tomorrow and get him to explain - ha ha, camp chairs and pop corn - Brilliant!!!
Actually, today I asked Soma about some pieces of paper, that were actually his, on the floor in front of his desk. He found it difficult to explain why they were there. I told him that he needs to think of the situation and try to respond more quickly. I think that he was a bit sensitive that he couldn't answer my question and so sent me an email at lunchtime to tell me that he was tired. He's a good student and tries hard, but is very grammar focused.
Cheers,
Mike
